Not as common as PS/2 KVM switches but they did exist, I had one or two at one time. I found them to be troublesome to use. ADB doesn't deal well with being switched. It's been a while so I don't recall the details but I think what happens is the mouse or keyboard goes unresponsive for a while.
Also if the Mac isn't connected to the monitor when it boots up there is no video output and it can't be started without restarting the computer with the monitor connected.
