Think of it as an opportunity to learn soldering, and if it's only corroded traces, you'll have a working keyboard. It's much better than the modern rubber dome types with flex circuits that can be impossible to fix.

I haven't tossed the board yet so I could salvage them as well. On Aug 24, 2016 4:00 AM, "Jonathan Morton" <chromati...@gmail.com> wrote: > On 24 Aug, 2016, at 04:36, V. Although the board itself looks unsalvageable (to my eyes), the keycaps, keyswitches and controller are probably fine and would make valuable spares. People do make new custom keyboards starting with those components, and the ALPS keyswitches used in old Apple keyboards are well-regarded, even if Cherry MX is better-known. One advantage of replacing the entire PCB is that you get to add anti-ghosting diodes; another is that you can alter the key layout if you so desire, even adding extra keys (if you have extra switches and can reprogram the controller) or leaving some out (to make it physically smaller). - Jonathan Morton -- -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
