The large square batteries are Rayovac 840, 4.5V Alkaline... They are no longer manufactured by Rayovac, but you can find a few new-old stock batteries or some equivalent replacements if you search around the online shopping venues. I also see that Interstate Batteries (the retailer) has a replacement for $15, though you could probably do better elsewhere.
