Look up “simasimac”. The electrolytic capacitors on the logic board have leaked 
their electrolytic fluid and are no longer functioning. What’s more, the 
electrolyte is corrosive and can destroy the logic board if allowed to sit for 
too long. Simply “washing” the logic board may bring back some functionality 
but is not going to solve the problem in any sort of permanent way.

If you are good with a soldering iron, you can replace these capacitors 
yourself. Charles has a cap chart here:
