Don't know what a NIC is but I removed Ethernet NB from all machines.

"AppleTalk" (CP) seems to be an OS 8.5 and later program, So I didn't 
mess with it.

Since "Network" (CP) seems to be doing the job, I think I'll quit 
while I'm ahead.
