    There was discussion about this going around on the 1st-powermacs 
list. One person was using the 3.0 volt batteries with no problem. I 
believe he had one in one of his computers for about a year or so...

    As batteries get older, their voltage decreases. So, your PRAM has 
a certain amount of tolerance. The battery can drop a little below 3 
volts & still work fine. If you start out at 3.0 volts & the battery 
is new. It will probably work just fine... But, for how long? 6 
months? a year?
