I think this might be a (common?) fault in the LC. At least, the 2nd -hand
one that I bought exhibited this problem. Very faint internal sound. I tried
cleaning the contacts for the internal speaker.... no luck. But resting a
huge heavy monitor on the case for a month or two somehow restored the
connection... must have crushed  the relevant contacts, somehow, somewhere,
into life... the sound is back to normal now, even tho the monitor is no
longer resting on the case...
