Ooo, also: Maxtor says that they only have two jumpers:
http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/products/scsi/legacy/jumper_definitions.htm TERM_ENA and TERM_PWR TERM_ENABLE turns on the internal termination. TERM_PWR provides termination power to the bus. They also recommend to only turn enable this at the end device. That's new to me. I guess they never thought of having the controller in the middle of the bus! Regardless, only ONE drive needs to provide "TERM_PWR to bus". I don't think it will hurt anything to have more than one powering the termination, but remember that the scsi controller is probably still trying to provide it too. I looked at some old Quantum jumper settings, also. To disable onboard termination they advise: "remove termination resistors". This is another reason why I stress do not trust internal termination. You may have the TERM_EN jumper shorted, but are the termination resistors still on your drive? _________________________________________________________________ Surf the Web without missing calls!
