You really shouldn't be having that much trouble switching the ADB. If I were you I might contact CompuCable to ask for a replacement- when I contacted them about this product before buying it, they indicated to me they'd be willing to replace it if I got a defective one. And it sounds to me like it is.
If you're not interested in going to those lengths, try this: Put one machine on your A position and the other on your C position, so that the B position in-between is empty. I did find that it sometimes helped on some other machines I was using to have an empty position in between, so that the ADB connection to one machine would be completely off before the next one started to come on.
