I have a question about an LC III. My dad has one and it stopped working. He has been told he needs a new motherboard. I was thinking perhaps I could just take the hard drive from his LC III and stick it into a newer/faster Apple/Mac computer that I could buy (perhaps a quadra or something like that). So I guess my question is, would that even be feasible? Thanks...

The LC III hard drive, which is SCSI, will fit and work in many older Macs, even some PowerMacs. Some Quadras use ATA drives (as opposed to SCSI), as do all newer Macs. Check the computer profiles on lowendmac for specs. If you get a PowerMac, you'll probably have to upgrade the OS, unless the plan is to have this hard drive as a secondary one to the boot drive, which is possible on a lot of macs with extra drive bays.

So...the answer to your question is a qualified yes. However, if the LC III was all your dad needed, you may just find it easier/cheaper to get another LC III and swap hard drives.
