Yes, they are the older kind that requires soldering just like the 800K SE (those made before August 1989). Other than being the kind you solder in they are identical to the 3.6V that 95% of all Macs use. I still use my old Weller Soldering Gun from 1957 to do all the tricks...but if you need one Radio Shack sells some pretty nice soldering guns.
