Did you install the regular way from the original floppies (which count installs by means of a devilish copy protection scheme) or did you figure out a way to get around that? I've got a musician friend whom I supplied with Mac hardware for MIDI use. He owns the original diskettes for Performer 4.1 and 4.2, but mistrusts them because of their age and would like to make backups. As it is now, if the hard disk screws up, or the diskettes develop errors, he might eventually lose the ability to use the software he has purchased and rightfully owns. Thus it would be wise to make backups of either the installed software or the diskettes. I must admit defeat in trying to accomplish that. (The regular bit-copy methods and dozens of more sophisticated tricks failed, although I managed to identify some of the irregularities with the diskettes.) So, if you have any good advice, I'm all ears. Otherwise, well, congratulations to having such an impressive configuration on your IIci. I've got two of them, and exclusively used a IIci at my work past year 2000 (mostly to vex my MHz-hungry Windows-using colleagues), but neither of my IIci:s has more than 32 MB RAM (lots of hard disk and video resolution, though). /Mikael -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
