Thanks, Anil,

My 1970 model beetle was made in Nov 1969. Small changes (such as interior
light switches) often got changed in mid-year rather than with a new model
year, so your information that it was a chromed version is useful. My chromed
switch definitely has an ivory plastic switch, and carries both a Hella logo
and a VW logo. I found it at a swap meet so am not certain what it came from.

In the 1960s and ‘70s, all VW beetle sedans for Canada and the USA were
manufactured in Emden, while those for the European markets generally came from
Wolfsburg. They frequently had different suppliers, hence, slightly different
parts.

Thanks for the response,

Hi Bert,

FWIW, my 1969 Type one had a beige button and the edge was chromed. I seem to
remember the brand was 'Sidler'.

spent many happy days in my childhood playing with that!

Okay, y’all,

Which is the correct/authentic interior-light switch for a German-market (i.
e., Wolfsburg) 1970 Type 1 sedan?

I have three: (1) chromed-plastic frame, flat ivory switch. Made in
Germany.

                                (2) clear plastic frame, flat black switch.
Made in Germany.

                                (3) clear plastic frame, flat black switch.
Hecho en México.
