Volks,
I’m re-assembling my 1972 SB and need some guidance regarding the back of the rear seat. The old fiberboard and carpeting had mostly rotted, so I have cut new and stitched and glued new carpeting onto newly cut and drilled masonite. Looks beautiful – until I begin piecing it back together. The 1972 has a fold-out shelf to cover the rear luggage area and also a sliding (and attached) bottom piece to cover the gap. It came with a hook-strap for holding the folded-down seatback flat. Mine are all in good condition. There are two metal fastening strips with screw holes, one straight, one with “crescent” ends to match the top contour of the seat back. Can anybody direct me to a link showing the correct assembly sequence, screw locations, etc., for the carpeted shelf and bottom pieces? The Samba has great pictures of an assembled unit, but the metal screw strips, etc., are all properly concealed. No help there. The other Web sites I’ve found all want to sell me something. I’ve got everything now – just need assembly guidance. Anybody know a link? Or have in-process pictures? Or an old sketch? Or a great memory? Hilfe, bitte!
