The reason having a profile manager is liked by some people is because if you are not using 3g, wi-fi, bluetooth and push notifications during the hours of midnight and 5 am when you are sleeping, it could save on battery life. Profile programs which you can only get if you jailbreak turn off on on things like this at specific times. You can even make it so your phone is muted during a meeting in your calendar. So you can set a calendar time for a special night with your girlfriend and not have your phone interrupt. So, uses for a profile app to change things are not just to save battery, but add convenience.

To each his/her own.

Hi,

What do you mean why? You just said why in your question. Its to conserve
battery. :). Of course turning off all the radios not in use would greatly
conserve battery. And you are comparing apple to oranges here. I'm just
talking about the bluetooth radio, and the amount of battery life it consumes.
Now, compare that to 3G cellular data? Its not even close. That runs your
battery down at maybe 10 times the rate of the BT radio. The same thing with
WIFI but to a lesser extent.

But why not just leave them all on and forget about them? How would having
such a manager like you mentioned change anything at all?.

If that is the case then I really shouldn't worry about leaving all the
radios on the phone on but then, why does Apple advise its customers to turn
them off to conserve battery? Frankly, I would love to leave them on and
then forget about it. Now if there was an app like Best Profile in the
Symbian OS which could toggle settings on and off, I wouldn't mind it.

Hello,

The iPhone has one of the best bluetooth systems in the business. When you
do not have a bluetooth device connected, almost no power is used. The same
is true for wifi and 3g.

You know, I don't mean to be a kill joy about this app but, why don't
people
leave bluetooth on? I mean, if you toggle it on/off so much that this
would
be valuable to you, why not just leave BT on. The battery consumption
for
this radio is so low when not in use, you won't even notice a battery hit
unless you are really keeping track. Really. It my lower your usage
time
by all of 30 minutes per charging cycle.

Hi Paula,

Thanks for this. Works as advertised. I thought this feature was to
be implemented into Siri, but since that hasn't happened yet, I
grabbed this app.
