Try the Bose MEI2. They do have the iPod controls. These are the best sounding and best fitting ear buds I have ever tried, and I have tried many. They are $129, though. Well worth it if you use your butts as much as I do and expect quality sound.

If you do find some which allow you to still hear your environment and which you find are of better quality don't forget to share it with the list.
