Hi, the biggest reason for me to jailbreak is because I use my Google Voice number as my main cell phone number, and jailbreaking allows me to seamlessly make outbound calls which originate from my Google Voice number. I don't have to use a specific app like nonjailbreakers have to. For example, if I am browsing the web and see a number, I can double-tap it like anyone else can and call it and it originates from my Google Voice number. Another thing I can do is send text messages out which also originate from my Google Voice number. So, using the native messages app, or my favorite one Bite SMS, I can text just like everyo0ne else and it's all through Google Voice number. This means that I can hide my real cell phone number. I said one reason, but I thought of another. Themes. I love that I can theme my phone. In fact, just to throw people off, lately I've had the Windows XP theme on my iPhone. It makes the home screen look like a windows xp desktop, and it plays the xp logon sound when I unlock and the log off sound when I lock the phone. On the screen instead of slide to unlock, it shows slide to log in.

I have many more tweaks, but themes and Google Voice are my 2 main reasons.

Just so you know, jailbreaking negates your one-year Apple warranty.
That's the only reason I haven't done it yet. Supposedly, you can
reverse it if need be, but the whole idea kind of intimidates me.

So your jailbreak apps reside right along side of your Apple apps? I
might give it a shot. Sounds fascinating. :)

If you jailbreak, do you lose the apps you already have? What about
your
music that's already on the device? I'm thinking of doing this with
an iPod
third gen. I have an iPhone, but I'll decide whether to jailbreak
after I
see how the iPod turns out. *smiles* On Jul 1, 2012, at 12:52 PM,
