I am a big Downcast fan and love the way it handles offline podcast listening.
1. Tap on More on the bottom row of buttons on Downcast’s main screen. 2. Tap on Settings. 3. Swipe down to New Episodes Action and change to Download Most Recent. By doing this you will be telling Downcast to automatically download the most recent episode of all your podcasts in your feed. For podcasts that are less frequently updated or are not time sensitive I go in to the individual podcast settings and adjust the number of podcast episodes to keep. 1. Tap on the Podcasts tab. 2. Double tap on a podcast that you want to change the number of episodes to keep. 3. Swipe down to the Podcast Settings button and double tap on it. 4. Swipe down until you hear the Episodes to Keep heading. 5. Swipe right one more time and double tap onObey Global Setting. 6. Swipe across and you will have many custom options. I have plenty of space on my iPhone so I will often change the setting to Last 3 Unplayed. Every morning when I wake up I open up the Downcast app on my phone and let it refresh the feeds and download all my new episodes. By the time I put my phone in my pocket to leave the house everything is updated.
