I am one individual who is looking for the correct answer to this question.
It's got to be one way or the other; either it is advisable to allow the
Lithium battery to drain completely or it is not!
For Heaven's sake, which is it?
Methinks I'll take Christopher's advice and read the article on the Apple
web site.

Well, each person can do their own research and use their battery any
way they like. If you want to trust the opinion of one person or base
your decision on anecdotal evidence then that's your choice, and it's
not a bad one or a wrong one.
For those that want to do a bit of reading and your own research, I'd
suggest Googling on lithium ion batteries, how they work and how best to
care for them. One good resource is Apple itself and here's just one
article on Apple's web site regarding their batteries

Remember that lithium ion batteries are different and use different
chemistry than NiCad batteries, so they don't suffer from the memory
affect of NiCad batteries and consequently you would use your LI
differently than you would your NiCad battery to optimize performance.
Most of the inaccurate advice I hear around LI batteries comes from what
people were told to do with rechargeable NiCad batteries.
Ultimately though, your battery works for you and not the other way
around. It's meant to be used. Remember, these tips are just to get
optimal performance with your LI battery. That doesn't mean if you don't
follow them you'll notice an immediate and serious impact on your
battery's performance.
I'm not sure we need to continue this debate on the list anymore. People
have decided to use their battery the way they're going to use it, and
it doesn't look like continuing to share information is going to do any
more but just cause people to get more entrenched into their own
opinion, myself included.
