i think that any way you do your transcription and are productive that it is ethically fine. I was told by Houston Lighthouse that i needed to be using a qwerty keyboard. Why would I do that when i type 60 wpm on a qwerty and 200 wpm on a braille keyboard. That's simply good math. I will obviously get better line counts the faster I can type without errors. IN my opinion, however you get the information written down shouldn't matter. All that should matter is that you produce and do it accurately.

Of course, one can go simply go online, but when you are transcribing, I would imagine it would seem easier to be able to look up something quickly on your phone without googling something. I was just wondering if any medical transcriptionists were on the list, and are you using any IPhone apps or other types of references like this? I use Windows for my computer, but like i said, I thought this might help keep the computer less cluttered while transcribing. A lot of the compter reference materials seem to be hogs.
