Hi Richard, On my Brother MFC 7340 it comes with software called “Control Center 3.” In there you can select different functions of the device such as scan, file, image, etc. I’m not sure if this is a feature for the multi-function units or if all the different types of laser printers have this software. I’m running a black laser device on both my PC and Mac. I installed Bonjour printer utility on my husbands PC to enable him to share the printer on my Mac. I hope this clarifies what I was inquiring about.
