Like Sieghard said.

And, depending where you live, some big box stores might offer incentives. At
Christmas, Target.com offered a $50 iTunes gift card with each Sonos purchase.
I made 4 separate purchases online of a Sonos Play3 speaker at full price of
$299 (plus tax, with free shipping, and 2 months return policy), but the real
cost to me was $249 each, figuring I'd be spending the money on iTunes in some
way anyway.

With Summer holidays coming up, they may have such incentives again soon.

Subject: RE: Sound Bar as iDevice stereo speaker?

Hi Tracy,

Yes, this is how Sonos works, any player (a stereo pair is considered to be a
single player) can play either the same if it is grouped with anothr player or
players or can play a different stream.

I understand it's tempting to add another UE Boom, but consider that in the
long run the Sonos investment probably is better as they don't upgrade their
hardware that often but instead release regular and frequent software updates
to make the system better. I bought players in 2009 and they still sell those
exact same players. Of course they also added new players, but it is a great
system and as I said in my other message, I think the sound quality is far
superior to any bluetooth speaker out there. I also have an approx. 20-year old
stereo system in my music room in the basement and it's an awesome system since
it was about the price of a medium priced car even back then, but even on this
system I have replaced a $2,500 CD Transport from Sonic Frontiers with a $300
Sonos Connect which can access all my losslessly ripped music on my network
attached hard drive and of course my Deezer Elite subscription and all the
other internet content Sonos supports and it sounds amazing. Upstairs I
replaced my 6-year old $2,000 Sony surround sound receiver and speakers with a
Sonos Playbar, two Play 1 as rear channel and Sonos Sub and I'm super happy
with the sound quality and een ha[ppier with the fact that I am saving a lot of
space. On top of that my Sonos system is fully accessible whereas my Sony
Receiver was basically inaccessible beyond turning it on/off, changing volume
and selecting the source (satellite, blueray, Apple TV etc.) Now the Playbar is
always on and connected to my TV so whatever plays on the TV plays on the
Playbar and if I want to listen to music in the living room I just open my
Sonos app, tap on Living Room, select what I want to listen to and that's it.
If my wife is watching TV and I am in the bedroom and want to listen to one of
my albums or an internet stream I select Master Bedroom, my choice of music and
off it goes, I want to have a shower I just group Bathroom to Master Bedroom
and the music plays in both rooms.

If I were you I'd save up a bit more, spend the extra $220 and for $400 get two
Play 1 speakers. You can order directly from Sonos with free shipping and if
you live in a larger city you can always check if there is a Sonos reseller
nearby and go there to listen to it first. Also, keep in mind that if you order
directly from Sonos you have a generous 45-day satisfaction guaranty, if you
buy it and after using it for 6 weeks don't like it, just make sure you keep
the original packaging, call Sonos and arrange to ship it back for a full
refund.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Re: Sound Bar as iDevice stereo speaker?

:) Last year when I began looking at a better speaker solution, I was really
tempted by Sonos. My biggest concern was our wireless network is not
consistently strong or reliable. On the flip side of that, I really liked the
idea that I could have multiple Sonos’s, correct? 2 downstairs as stereo pair,
then one could be upstairs playing something totally different? Is that
accurate?

Anyway, at this point, I’d have to think about it, because we already own one
UE Boom, so I could spend $180 for 1 more, & get the left/right stereo.

Lol, this stuff is challenging. Reviewers always talk about volume volume
volume… Well, I am not looking to have my music on max volume. I want more of
a full sound. I want to know things like how does classical music sound on
these systems? I listen to many different genres, but classical is a big part
of my library.

Again, I appreciate the input. The funny thing is, I have a 20 year old stereo
upstairs, but it is so large, I don’t really have a spot for it.
