How do you store it in Icloud instead of your device? I don't want it downloaded. I just want to be able to stream it from a cloud library. How can I tell it I want to be able to play srections I have liked by an arsist instead of the whole artist catalog or just one particular song. How do I have playlists or artists accessible easily but not just hanging out taking up space on my phone.

You do not "buy" the music in Apple Music; you "rent" it, like you would rent a movie from Netflix. When you download from Apple Music, it is like downloading anything else to your device; space will be taken up on your device.
