Strange, I use the same keystroke (VO shift M) to release it.

The keyboard shortcut is VO+Shift+m. I think either escape or doing that keystroke again when you get the app where you want it will release the app. I’m not sure, so maybe a little trial and error and you will get it or someone can post better directions.
