Hi,
I don’t know that it is device or iOS specific as I can report the same as
Craig exactly with an iPhone 6sPlus running iOS 9.0.2 both after having
restored the device to new as well as restoring from cloud backup.
While I’m glad it is still possible to delete as I recall when we couldn’t it’s
still maddening to have to go through so many steps to do it.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

Sieghard, after reading your thoughtful post, I did lots of testing only to
find that I could not make VoiceOver speak the "delete" buttons on the left
side of the screen unless I took focus away from the device after pressing the
"Delete" button that initiates the deletion process. After focusing on the
device, I pressed "delete" and swiped right and left and touched the screen
spot by spot, so to speak, all to no avail. When I focused on "Cloud," and
when I brought focus back from "Cloud" to "Device," the book-specific "Delete"
buttons were spoken by both swiping and touching the screen. Perhaps this bug
is device- and iOS-specific. I'm using an iPhone 5 and iOS 8.3. I may
communicate with Audible again in order to tell them that no one, sighted or
blind, should have to switch focus away from the device in order to delete a
book. I am glad you are able to delete books in the prescribed way and only
wish the process would work equally well for everyone. Again, thanks for your
words.

  Hi craig and others,

This is very strange, I now have an iPhone 6S, but I also still have my 5S
and I have the most recent Audible version on both devices (version 2.6.1 (377).

The Delete function works and has worked for me as it should in the last few
versions. I don’t remember when it was broken that time I think when they first
introduced the 2.5 or 2.6 series of updates, but then they fixed it and it has
been working fine for me without any work-arounds.

All I do is double tap the Delete button at the top (to the left of Refresh)
and then all the delete buttons beside each book show up, I can double tap them
and the book is gone. The app no longer asks to confirm if you want to delete,
but that’s fine with me since one would assume that by the time you get to this
point you know you want to delete the book.

I still think it’s too bad that the buttons to delete each book only say
“Delete” and not Delete followed by the book title, but I usually swipe so I
know for sure I am on the correct delete button.

All the delete buttons are along the very left edge of the screen, to the
left of the book titles, but when you swipe right, Voiceover reads the book
title first, then it reads the “Menu” button and then comes the delete button.
Interestingly enough, when the main delete button is activated and you explore
the screen rather than swipe, the Menu buttons which are normally down the very
right edge of the screen, are nowhere to be found, you hear them only when you
swipe, but they actually don’t do anything when in delete mode.

Maybe some others can check if this works for them, but I also hadn’t heard
lately that the delete functionality was broken.

I do, however, agree that it would be nice if for Voiceover users delete was
once again a rotor option as it once was.

  Regards,

  Sieghard

  Hello, everyone.

I have reported this problem in detail to Audible along with the concern that
this is the third time, I believe, that the "delete" function has been broken
for VoiceOver users in the last year or so.
