Hi. I would imagine that some apps need to be kept running such as GPS apps or
transit apps, assuming you are traveling otherwise it is unnecessary to keep
them running. Walter.

Just a penny for my thought.

Maybe so and maybe no. I have read articles like this before and while this may
be correct theoretically, I think what the author does not consider is that not
all apps are created equal. How often have you seen something in the What's New
section of an app that menbtions the developer has fixed a memory leak or fixed
something which caused excessive use of battery power or they fixed something
which caused the app to remain active in the background. I have seen all of
these in the last 5 years at some point or another so all it takes is a
developer who hasn't done a good job with their code and of course removing the
offending app from the app switcher will fix this. Therefore I happily continue
to waste 10 or 20 seconds of my valueable time once or twice a day to force
quit the apps I don't use. For the amount of time it took the author to write
this article and post it, he could have probably closed apps on his phone once
a day for years to come especially since I think a sighted person can swipe up
and close multiple or even all apps at once.

Regards,
Sieghard
