All. I had an interesting experience yesterday which I wanted to
share. I got a notification on my iPhone at around 4:20 yesterday
afternoon. When I got home, my phone was completely dead, no
VoiceOver, no vibration when I switched the mute button from muted to
unmuted and back, nothing. I plugged the phone into my Mac and after
waiting a few seconds, noticed that it wasn't showing up on the Mac in
iTunes like it usually does when plugged in. I tried plugging the
phone into the charger and no dice. After dinner I went to the Apple
Store and a technician looked at it. Within 30 seconds he got it
working again by doing a hard reset, which means you hold the power
and home buttons in for 8-10 seconds and then release. He said that
iPhones will rarely shut completely down like that. He also said that
it can sometimes happen in an OtterBox case, like I have on my phone,
where the phone gets too heated and completely shuts down. He assured
me that even if the phone is turned off it will restart when I do the
reset. In the 5 years that I've had iPhones, this is the first time
this has happened to me. For the record, I have an iPhone 6S and when
this happened I had not yet updated to 9.1.

Best regards,
Wayne Merritt
