Sounds like you've already made up your mind, and since no one is forcing you to install Cortana then I don't see this as a big issue for you.

If people are already using Cortana on other devices, such as their PC, Mac or Android device, then using it on their IOS devices might make sense. Also, Cortana may just be better than Siri. Some people already think that Google Now is superior to Siri, so it's not unreasonable to think that something could be even better than Siri or Google Now. BTW, there are already those who think that Siri is frivolous, so of course Cortana will also get the same critics.

Since Cortana is free, people can choose to install or not to install the app, and determine for themselves if they like Cortana better than Siri or not. For me, I'd like to see a side by side comparison of Cortana, Siri and Google Now, something based on fact and without any biases, and until then I'll decide whether I want to check out Cortana for myself or not.

I’m confused...
Why install Cortana if you’ve got Siri?
It’s kind of redundant, not to mention Cortana’s history of being
completely useless, so if anyone can give me a sufficient explanation as
to why installing Cortana on any Apple device is a good idea, I would
really like to hear it.

Robin,

Thanks for letting us know about Cortana. I've installed her on my
iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3 and allowed access to everything requested and
signed in with my Microsoft account. I don't know if I've set up
everything correctly but I'm disappointed in Cortana's level of voice
replies. When I ask Cortana what time it is, she responds by taking me
to a page with the official US time but without speaking anything. Also,
is there a voice phrase to initiate speech as there is with Okay Google?
I find it a bit inconvenient to have to execute the voice input button
at the bottom of the screen to be able to speak to her.

I'm hoping I'm just missing something because what I'm experiencing
seems less than convenient and not nearly as easy to use as either Siri
or Google.
