At this point though, you could probably score a refurb Apple TV third gen for $40. If all you want is streaming and airplay, then it’s more than good enough for that.
The wife and I have two refurb Apple TVs and are perfectly happy with them. They’re both over a year old and have never given us trouble. She uses them all the time to airplay her German TV programs. Hello, The Chrome Cast works a bit differently than the Apple TV. Chrome Cast depends on the app on your phone. For example the Net Flix app on your phone will have a button that says something like cast to chrome cast or something like that. In a way it is better than the Apple TV.
