Hi Michelle,

You can use VoiceOver to read your books in iBooks. Another option is to go to 
General/Settings/Accessibility and turn on Speak Screen. Then when you open an 
iBook, you can ask Siri to read the screen. The advantage is that the text can 
be spoken while the screen is locked. I haven't had much luck with this method 
recently, however. If you do use this approach, you can use the same area of 
settings to choose a voice. You have the same options as you do with VoiceOver.
