The best GPS app is the one that works best for you in your situation and location. It is truly a matter of preference, and travel style, etc. Some would say that Sendero's Seeing Eye GPS is the best, and it is pretty amazing, but it also costs the most. You can subscribe for roughly $70 per year, or $130 for three years, or buy it once under the name Seeing Eye GPS XT, for $300. Then, there are the free Google Maps or MapQuest, or the built-in Apple Maps. Those are all turn-by-turn GPS apps. If you mainly want something to identify streets and points of interest for orientation, Blind Square is very good. Or Ariadne GPS, and quite a few more.
Perhaps if you said a little more what kind of travel help you want, it would be easier to narrow down some suggestions.
