Thanks for the comments to my post. I found the answer and have now got iTunes 
fully set up and syncing with my iPhone on my new computer. 

If you wish to sync between Outlook 2010 and your iDevice using Itunes, no 
add-in has to be downloaded. Outlook 2010 must not require an add-in like 
Outlook 2002 did because I was able to sync without loading anything new. I 
also didn't install the iCloud control panel because I'm not a fan of 
transferring my contacts and calendar to iCloud although I might change my mind 
about this down the road. I did go ahead and download the control panel to my 
external drive.
