I thought you didn't want the music on your phone because of space? If you check sync all music when you have your phone connected to iTunes, then yes, it will all sync back onto your phone. Or, you could manually manage music on your iPHone and only check certain albums or songs to sync to the iPHone, but sync all music when you are connecting your iPod to your computer using iTunes. Yes, First, in your settings on the iPhone, go into the iTunes and App Store settings under automatic downloads and turn off music. Then, new purchases should not automatically download, especially if you make them from your iPod. Also, if you sync with iTunes on a computer, you can have the phone set to not sync music, which will remove the music on it completely, but have it set to sync all music or just selected music on your iPod.
