According to Apple the work they are doing with this so-called "Differential
Privacy" is groundbreaking and visionary. This is at least is one thing which
makes me quite happy, Apple still emphasizes privacy and they are trying to
deliver a great user experience while preserving privacy. For example, they
mentioned that the 11 Billion computations iOS does on a photo to recognize as
much as possible on said photo are all done on the device and nothing goes to
Apple servers. They also mentioned that Apple is not building user profiles
regarding people's habits, preferences and what they do. This of course is
completely opposite to what Google is doing since it is their goal to deliver
as much convenient technology as possible all so they can collect as much
information from their users as possible which they can then turn around and
convert it into advertising revenue. It's a fundamental difference in how these
companies make their money, Google from advertising which finances the
development of Android and hardware which in turn provides more advertising
revenue. Apple makes great hardware which is sold at a premium price and in
turn this allows them to continue to do what they are doing while trying to
preserve their customer's privacy as much as possible.

Best regards,
Sieghard

If you can't stream it, download my MP3 of the event and play it on a stand
alone device. Apple announced incremental improvements, not breakthrough
technology. Even Facebook with its calling feature in the messages app, a
Facetime mimmick, offered something new. Some of Apple's innovations will need
to be experieinced to be believed. The photos app will now be able to
recognize peple and places.
