I have the Charge HR, so it has the heart rate monitoring. The Fit Bit app is accessible. You use the same Fit Bit app for all Fit Bit devices. I don't think the full blown watch capabilities with the notifications and all would be worth the money, since the Fit Bit band itself won't be accessible. I'd agree, if you're going to go that route then get an Apple Watch.

One feature I really like, which I didn't even know about when I got the Charge HR, is that you can set alarms through the app. You don't need to be connected to your phone for the alarms to work. I wake up just fine when the band on my wrist vibrates, and it doesn't disturb my wife at all. I don't even mess with my clock radio alarm any more.

My Charge HR also vibrates when I get a call. I also really like this feature. Sure, I have my phone with me most of the time, but there are times where it'll vibrate in my pocket, and I won't notice it. I never miss the band on my wrist vibrating when I get a call.

I've been reading up on these FitBit Devices, and trying to compare them to

is something I want quite yet. Anyhow, how accessible do you find the app for
controlling your Flex with VoiceOver? Do all FitBit Devices use the same app
to control them?

There's something called the FitBit Blaze, which gives you some notifications,
like a cross between a more advanced fitness tracker and a basic smart watch,
but that's not very important to me, as it's probably not going to be
accessible, like the Apple Watch would be. And I've got my phone on my belt
when out and about, so receiving notifications is not an issue for me.

I had a similar query a few weeks back as I'm an early bird and my wife hates

An Apple Watch was suggested to me, but I'm not interested in one. Much less
for this one particular feature and at that price. I ended up buying a
refurbished Fitbit Flex for something like $40.00.
It works fine and I can get up whenever I want without having to bother my
wife. She in turn has one of those wake-up light alarms which is fine for her
since she's sighted and this way, I'm not disturbed by her alarm.

Hi Ari,

And there are a number of relatively inexpensive Bluetooth wristbands out there
which will wake you up with vibration and I don't think that sort of vibration
will be as noticeable as when a phone vibrates especially if it is lying on a
hard surface such as a wooden night table.

Sieghard

Yes, that is frustrating. I've long wanted to make the alarm volume low while
keeping the ringtone volume high. My husband is a very light slleeper, to the
point that a vibrating phone will wake him up. So finding something that will
disturb him as little as possible while waking me up at the same time (I'm a
rather heavier sleeper than he is, and even if I do wake up, am able to very
quickly fall asleep again if I do wake up from something making noise, my
husband doesn't find getting back to sleep easy) is very difficult.

Thanks,
Ari

You're suggestion made me very hopeful, but though I turned off the change with
buttons setting, the volume of the ringer seems to be tied to the volume of the
alarms. That is, if I leave the ringer volume low, and if I set an alarm for 1
minute, when the alarm sounds, it is presented at the same low volume as the
ringer. I'd really like the alarm to be loud but the ringer to be very quiet.
Thanks for any additional ideas.

You might be able to mess around with the ringtone volume and VoiceOver volume
(turn this on in the rotor). To get a good balance between loudness of
VoiceOver and your ringtone. Another thing I would suggest is turning off the
setting called change with buttons in the sounds area of the settings app. This
makes the ringtones stay at a constant volume, no matter what you do with your
volume buttons.

Thanks,
Ari

       Hi all,

Is there a way of disabling the announcement of who's calling me when my
phone rings? As is, when the phone rings, I also get VoiceOver very

announcing the name of the person calling. Ideally, I'd like to simply
hear
the phone ring. Any tips or tricks are very welcomed. :)
