Under the notification settings for Facebook Messenger or any app, you have one 
setting to show in the notification center, and one setting to show on the lock 
screen.
So if you turn off the setting to show on the lock screen, then notifications 
for that app will no longer show on your lock screen, but it will still be 
listed in the notification center for you to view it there.
