Neil, you are correct  that one has to take into consideration the entire 
picture. THe Quad-core processor certainly will offer performance improvements, 
but in what way is the next question. Certainly for graphics intensive apps 
there is no doubt that the extra horsepower will be beneficial. I think for me 
I would want to know if there is an overall performance improvement for 
VoiceOver which quite honestly is pretty snappy on the 4S. The other question 
is ram which will make a difference because the more apps you have open the 
more room there will be with less swapping in theory. Much like the computer 
world, the iOS and other mobile devices are following the same path. THings get 
faster with time and yes I think we are at a point where smart phones truly are 
little computers in your pocket. People are going to demand more and more from 
these devices and maybe there will be a day when movie device all but replace 
desktop and notebook machines.
The true challenge will be balancing speed and efficiency. The real goal now is 
to develop battery technology that really expands the runtime for movie devices.
