Hi Mary and All,
even if you don't choose to use that link, you are still able to
log into your Apple account page and turn off the two factor
authentication.
I've not exactly had a problem setting up a new device with it
turned on, but I have had to tell it to send me a text message
with the six digit code, rather than use the code just sent to
the phone number. I haven't yet, though, set up a brand new
device with iOS 10. For some unknown reason, even when logging
into some of Apple support pages with my current device,
receiving the code via text message works better than getting it
via an alert on the phone. Sometimes, even if I get the code
with the alert, and then double check that I've entered it
correctly, I still get an error and have to use the text message
way.

;Hi,
the only time I encountered an issue with this was recently when
upgrading
from one iPhone to another the system texted the code to my
number but since
my phone wasn't fully up and running and operational I couldn't
get it to
sign into iCloud properly. So I had to set up phone as new,
skipping iCloud
sign in go to apple ID and turn off TFA and then restore phone
from cloud
after the fact. their system used to have a recovery key you
could use for
times when you're off line but they've taken that away so much as
it pains
me for the moment I have it turned off. If one has more than one
Apple
device you shouldn't necessarily encounter this but for me it
made for some
heart racy kind of moments so for now it's off but usually it's
my practice
to use it wherever and whenever I can but I admit sometimes it
causes the
user more stress than those it's trying to deter from evil doing.

I'm not worried about getting the code and entering it, although
I don't
have any vision. When I am worried about our glitches such that
the code
doesn't come or whatever, essentially making your two factor
authentication
unusable and locking you out on your new device. There have been
some talk
about some major problems, not specified, unless I didn't see the
follow up
message, with this system. So I was wondering what they were.
That would be a problem.

Subject: Two factor authentication issues?
When I updated my iPad mini two recently, I went ahead and
enabled two
factor authentication. Subsequently, Apple sent me a
notification that
included a link, which, if I activated, will let me undo the
changes I
made. This link will go away as of sometime next week.
Therefore, I am
interested in the details of the problems that arise with two
factor
authentication. I gave them my mobile phone number where they
could send
the six digit code that will be needed when and if I get a new
Apple
device where I log in with my Apple ID. I certainly don't want
some
unsolvable problem happening down the road. So what are the
issues? Is it
something that happens when you're trying to enable two factor
authentication? In that case, mine is already done, so no
problem. If it
is a problem that happens when you're actually trying to start
using a new
device, that's another matter, and would make me consider
revoking my two
factor authentication.
