Sieghard,
With regards to Item no. 2, I own several WEMO devices which are made by Belcan. The IOS ap is pretty much accessable and allows me to schedule and control several devices. I own both wall switches and wall warts, e.g., plug into an outlet and control whatever you plug into them. The AP is not great, but can be used by a totally blind person after a pretty steep learning curve defined by some unlabeled or mislabeled buttons and controls. That is just in the scheduling function. Turning things on and off via the ap is completely accessable. Specifically, here are a few questions I have: 1. Philips Hue: anybody have any of these connected light bulbs and in particular how is the SIRI Home Kit integration working? I was hoping I could get a deal this weekend, but the only starter kits I saw on sale were the second generation ones which have just in the last week or two been replaced with the third generation. I think the bridge is actually unchanged, but the new third generation bulbs are supposed to reproduce colours a lot more accurately. 2. WiFi switches: by these I mean switches you plug into a power wall outlet, you then plug in a device (heater, lights, coffee maker etc.) and you can turn the connected device on or off via the app or on a schedule. I am interested to know what brands people may have bought, does the brand you have support home kit and hence SIRI integration? 3. Instapot: this has been discussed before, I think Mary has one. I think the app for this was accessible and I was curious as to whether it still is, has it become better or worse with respect to Voiceover accessibility and are all aspects and features of the app useable? I did find one good deal yesterday, the new Withings Body scale was on sale at BestBuy.ca for $99.99 instead of $149.99. I had a $100 Best Buy gift card so all it cost me was the taxes. Withings used to have what they called the Smart Body Analyzer and it has now been replaced by two new scales, the Body and Body Cardio. The Body Cardio also reads your heart rate, but since I have an Apple Watch as well as a Qardio Blood Pressure monitor I didn't feel that was very necessary. The new scale gives you the usual range of measurements beyond weight such as body index, body fat, bone mass etc. It is only three quarters of an inch thick and looks very nice, it supports the Apple Health app and once I get it and my wife and I have used it I'll share my impressions. This will be here just in time to forever record how many pounds of Christmas cookies I eat and which somehow stick to my belly *smile*.
