I still haven't gotten the products channel to recognize anything. The
most I get is very fast beeps, which should indicate I'm close, but
nothing else; I've done all I can think to do with the camera.

Seeing AI itself or do you go into the camera and do that?

Hey, Kelby.
I use an IPhone SE and a laptop. I hold the phone with the front
facing camera pointing at the monitor; the bottom of the phone is
parallel to the laptop keyboard. I've used the Short Text function to
see what's going on with the computer, and can now see when Windows is
trying to update before the start up message comes up.

I've also used Short Text to look through a book at my parents' house
that someone had left on the arm of the couch. It was really fun to be
able to see what my Mom or sister was reading, and I think I'll snag
the book to get some recipes out of it myself. I used the back camera
and made sure it was just over the left edge of the page. I chose the
back camera because I can tell where it is and what it's pointing to,
as opposed to the front one.

I tried using the app to identify a $20, and it did that, sort of. I
knew beforehand what it was, so maybe it doesn't count. But the Short
Text menu saw what I think is the serial number and the denomination.
I'll go play with it some more when I can borrow David's working eyes
to understand what is being seen, or not seen.

I'm not the most steady-handed person with the camera, either, so will
go practice. But I like what I've seen so far, and I'm hoping it keeps
getting developed.

Dani

For now just use the Nand Money Reader app, it uses the back camera

just have to hold the bill in front of the camera for a second and it
will
tell you what it is.
I usually start the app, put the phone on the table or desk in front

screen down so the back camera faces up and then I hold the bill about
6
or
8 inches above the camera.
Only criticism I have about this app is that after whatever time
interval
you have set it wants to lock the screen and you have to touch the
screen
to
prevent this or unlock it again if it locks. It would be easy for them
to
code the app so that the screen lock is disabled as long as the app is
in
the foreground.

First, scanned image PDF documents are generally not great text
quality.
Also, there is so much clutter on a computer screen, it would be
hard
to get just the document in focus.
You might try maximizing the window to see if that helps.
But, maybe printing it then using Seeing AI would be better.
The Short Text works fabulously on my Windows 10 screen at home and
my Windows 7 screen at work.
But, I only use it for messages that are popping up.
Not for trying to read a document on the screen.

I've been playing around with my Seeing AI app the past couple of
days. Since I don't have many print documents around the house, I've
been trying the short text function. At least when I have tried
getting it to read the text on my computer screen I've had almost
zero luck. No matter how close or far I put the camera from the
screen, I get mostly gibberish and at best just the top of the
window. Certainly never the main text of, say, a newspaper article.
I
can't imagine how people are using this to read fast food restaurant
menus as many are claiming.
