Hi Mike,

Thanks for the compliment, but automatic updates applies to apps only, it does
not effect iOS updates which will download automatically if your phone is
connected to WiFi and plugged in. For most people that means it may download
over night when most people plug their phone in to charge. Once downloaded
you’ll occasionally get a notification that a new version of iOS is available
and ready to be installed. You used to be able to delete the update, but I
didn’t check if this was still the case after I downloaded, I went straight on
to installing it.
Having said this, I find that so far iOS 11 is very stabil and works well, I
would sy my phone is more responsive and the new american femal SIRI voice
really is something, probably one of the best or maybe the best voice I have
ever heard, she sure beats the socks of Alex in my opinion, but we all know how
subjective TTS opinions are. For every-day use she may be a bit too slow since
I find she only really sounds good at a fairly slow speed sort of how she talks
when you ask SIRI something. But I added her as a rotor voice so if I read an
article and I want to have a really nice voice and don’t care about hearing it
read at more of the speed a human reader would read, I just turn the rotor to
Language and select her.

Regards,
Sieghard

or not?

Hi Chris,

Not to debate with Sieghard, since he has forgotten more about iOS than I'll
ever know, but turning off automatic updating has worked for some. Here are
the steps:
How to turn off Automatic Updates in iOS 9.3, which also works in iOS 10.33:

Turn off Automatic Updates in iOS

Automatic Updates are enabled by default, so you'll need to turn them off. This
won't help with the current update, but it will stop you from getting these
messages in future. So the first thing you should do is dive into settings and
turn Automatic Updates off:

list of 3 items
1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap iTunes & App Stores.
3. Set Updates underneath "Automatic Downloads" to Off.
list end

This will prevent iOS from downloading updates in future, although you'll still
need to deal with the update you've downloaded.

How to delete the downloaded update

How to delete a downloaded iOS update

Now it's time to get rid of the update on your iPhone or iPad. This will
prevent iOS from throwing up the update alert at you every day:

list of 7 items
1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap General.
3. Tap Storage & iCloud Usage.
4. Tap the first Manage Storage option (below "Storage" not "iCloud").
5. Locate the iOS update. It should be iOS followed by numbers, i.e., "iOS
9.3.2."
6. Tap Delete Update.
7. Tap Delete Update in the Delete Update alert window.
list end

Turning off Automatic Updates and deleting the latest update from your Storage
will prevent you from getting the alert windows in the future. Some users
have reported that iOS re-downloads the update when the iPhone is connected to
Wi-Fi

If the "Install Now" and "Remind Later" alert re-appears, check in your Storage
& iCloud Usage and delete the update again.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

No, there never was and if I know Apple there never will be.
You just have to ignore it for now.

not?

Hey all,

I know that IOS 11 is out, but I don’t want to upgrade at this time.
Is there a setting that I can go to that will have my phone not remind me to
upgrade?
Thanks,
Chris
