I am not saying there aren't certain tests where the Samsung comes out on top,
but considering that the processor in the Samsung is an 8 core processor and if
it does in fact have 6 Gb of RAM then it should totally smoke the iPhone, but
more RAMand faster processors so far have had a difficult time in beating the
optimizations Apple can do to make their software run efficiently on their
hardware. Of course one could say Samsung should be able to also do this to
some degree since it is their hardware and while Android is not their's, they
have apparently customized it to a very large degree and there is even talk
that soon enough Samsung phones will not even run Android any more, but
Samsung's own OS although I suspect that whatever Samsung will do will run
Android apps because if not they are most likely going to set them up for a
huge belly flop since developers probably have enough on their plate developing
for Android and iOS and we saw how successful Windows was when it came to the
availibility of apps for their phones.

I saw the results of one benchmark where the Samsung S8 out performed the
iPhone 8. This was due to the fact that the S8 has 6G of RAM while the iPhone 8
has 2G. Processor speed isn't everything, and benchmarks don't always capture
real world performance. This is true whether Samsung or the iPhone comes out on
top.

I suppose dropping the headphone jack is a trend, but I'm not sure it's a good
one. There's no reason you can't use USB or bleutooth even if you still have a
headphone jack. It's not like we're getting thinner, cheaper, more waterproof
or more feature rich phones by losing the headphone jack. Seems to me like
we're losing a ubiquitous open interface for no gain except that the cell phone
manufacturers save a few cents on each device.
