In a nutshell, I chose iPhone 8 Plus because of the following:
1.
iPhone 8 Plus has Touch ID along with the Home button, a technology
I know and trust.
2.
I prefer it's physical size to that of the iPhone 10.
3.
When watching videos on iPhone 10 I do not like it's aspect
ratio. It is very long and narrow. To me, it's like staring into
the rear-view mirror of an automobile.
4.
Even though apple says that iPhone 10 has a 5.8 inch display, as
opposed to the 8 Plus 5.5 inch, that's not exactly true. What Apple
fails to disclose is that the actual viewing area of iPhone 10 is
only 5.3 inch, because of the Face ID technology that hides part of
the display, said technology being referred to as the, "two
notches", located near the top of the screen. Consequently, despite
the fact that the physical display area of iPhone 10 is greater than
iPhone 8 Plus, its actual viewing area is slightly smaller.
5.
To me, the iPhone 10 OLED display is almost too perfect. This is to
say, there is almost no reflection; the black is really black
because the organic diodes are truly inactive when not in use. The
problem, for me, as a low vision person, is that, in the daylight, I
found that I had to struggle more in order to distinguish between
various colors. While I'm certain that sighted people prefer an
OLED display to any other, I'm not certain it will prove to be
beneficial to those of us with certain types of eye conditions. In
short, I can see the 8 Plus display more easily than that of iPhone 10.
As strange as it may sound, were I totally blind, Touch ID
technology notwithstanding, I would most likely have chosen iPhone
10 over iPhone 8 Plus.
