I kept an iPhone 6S when I upgraded to an iPhone 7, and I use it all the time.
I have it muted and set on do not disturb because when I’m reading or listening
to ball games, I don’t want them being interrupted by notifications, texts,
calls, etc., that frequently come in on my primary phone. I am running beta IOS
on the backup phone but not on my primary phone, just in case what has been
downloaded has bugs in it. That way I can check it out but not get stuck if
it’s something that presents a problem. I keep them both updated, which really
isn’t that big a deal since I use them both all the time. Of course, since my
backup phone no longer has a SIM card, I can only use it with WIFI, but that’s
no problem. If I am listening to a football or basketball game in the car, for
example, obviously I have to use my primary phone and hope I don’t get a call
to interrupt it. LOL! So, as everyone else has been saying, it is most
definitely a matter of preference.
