Same thing happens with my iPhone 8. However, for now, pressing
the home button once this happens seems to fix things, until the
next call of course.

You might want to give this a try!
In my opinion, the iPhone is the worst cell phone I have ever
had,
but it is a great portable hand-held computer.

have spoken to Apple and they are aware of the problem but have
no solution. It is nerve racking and actually hurts my ear. Is
