I do have “Radio by Tune In” in my sources list, haven’t checked if I could add the Tune In version where you have to login/subscribe, this is the free version. Why do you ask, I thought that was available on all Sonos systems.

I am sure they know how big Alexa is and also Google Home although I have a feeling Amazon is currently really dominant. My problem is that I don’t want to own 3 different smart speakers using 3 different platforms just as I wouldn’t want an iPhone and an Android phone. I know some people own iPhones, Android devices and even Amazon Fire devices, but I prefer to spend my hard-earned money on whatever platform I find is best for me and don’t necessarily think more devices give me more options or convenience. I think sometimes more is not better because you then spend so much time learning all the different systems, making sure you keep them updated and all that. Having said that my wife and I who both have iPhones also bought some Amazon Echos when Amazon finally offered them officially here in Canada. We use them primarily with our Philipps Hue lights, Lyric Thermostat and I recently realized I could install the Netatmo skill to ask about information from the weather station. We also use the one in the kitchen all the time for setting timers for cooking and baking and occasionally we use the Drop-in intercom function because I have also an Echo Dot in my office at work. I do also use them for conversions or if I want to know what day of the week a particular date is. Of course SIRI does conversions and the date thing just as well, but it’s usually easier to say “Alexa, how many Kg is 18 ounces” or whatever, my iPhone is often in my hipholster and “Hey SIRI” does not work if the screen is covered. As I said before, Alexa does not do well for me when it comes to playing Podcasts and I have tried at least 4 times on different days and times to enable the Sonos skill but each time I get an error message telling me that it can’t connect to Sonos right now and to try again later. I wonder if it’s not available here in Canada, have to call Sonos one of these days and find out. In my opinion all the digital assistants have some strength, but they all have weaknesses and limitations and I look forward to them becoming more capable over the next years. It seems apparent to me that Apple is devoting its resources to things other than making Siri smarter. Alexa is so far ahead of Siri that I hardly bother with Siri anymore. I expect Apple enjoys a much higher profit margin from its hardware devices than from allocating resources to making Siri more intelligent. I guess if you are heating up Pizza a single timer is OK, but if you are cooking something more elaborate where you want a 45 minute timer so you know when the scalopped potatos need to come out of the oven, you then want a 15 minute timer for something else and a 3-minute timer because you don't want to overdo the garlic which you put in the saute pan then SIRI is useless and it's Alexa to the rescue. Oh yes, and the article forgot to mention that translation doesn't even work in Canada where last time I checked we also spoke English. I think SIRI must be one of Apple's biggest, unacknowledged embarrassments ever as it can do little more now in 2018 than it could do when it came out in 2011..
