Hi Marie, I haven’t seen this problem on iOS 12. I’ve updated my iPhone, iPad, and have another iPad which ran the beta. Double tapping asks me to unlock with TouchID or my pin and goes right into the conversation. You may already have, but if you haven’t, try restarting your phone.
