This happens with my iphone SE, I need to upgrade my iphone 8 and see if
it happens with that phone as well. If you listen closely, it sounds like
the speech starts to say the time but then is cut off, usually when the
screen turns on, voiceover speaks the first item on the screen which is
the time, I just wonder what is different when pressing the power button
instead of the home button to wake the phone up.

So far, IOS 12 seems to be working fine for me, I have only noticed one
thing that is annoying. When pressing the home button, the time is no
longer automatically spoken, I use this as a talking clock. It is spoken
when using the power button to wake the phone though, I guess I will
just
use that for now. Other than that, have not noticed any issues.
