Hi, I'm reluctant to enter my pass code when out in public or around some people who I might not know very well, for the simple fact, I use vo, and if I can hear vo, I'm sure others can hear it as well. As far as entering my pass code while my phone is in my pocket, again, if I can hear vo, I'm sure others can as well. I Wouldn't buy ear phones just for that reason. I will now use the home gesture for unlocking my phone. Janet

To each their own, but I wouldn't be as reluctant to enter in my pin. You can do so with your phone still in your pocket or purse or if that's too awkward, then just enable the screen curtain so if someone's actually taking the time to watch you for the 2 or 3 seconds that it takes to punch in 4 or 6 or whatever digits, they'll see you tapping away at a black screen anyway. If I'm out and about, I always use a blutooth earpiece. Be it my Trekz Air or Plantronics 5500. Having Vo just chattering away like that feels awkward and it's hard to hear anyway. I like my privacy too. I do prefer the old touch ID method, but ho well, so goes technology. -----Original Message----- From: viphone@googlegroups.com <viphone@googlegroups.com> On Behalf Of janet gross Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2018 3:43 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Face ID: how to initiate second scan with Voice Over? Hi Maria, Unfortunately, that won't work for me. If the face id doesn't recognize my face the first time, I don't get a second chance, so in order to unlock the phone, I have to enter my pass code. Smile! Now, if I have to enter my pass code to unlock the phone when I am out, I don't feel comfortable entering my pass code when out in public though. I don't think that is a smart thing to do, as one might not know who is around. I know when I power down the phone I have to enter my pass code. Although, I have to admit when I unlock my phone using face id, I'm quite amazed that the face id can still recognize my face even if I'm in the dark or even if I am wearing my sun glasses, as when I set up the face id feature, I wasn't wearing my sun glasses, and I was in a bright setting, and I even had the screen curtain turned on as I usually do, but I forgot it was on when I was setting up the face id. I think this alone is quite amazing though! I'm actually blown away by this! It doesn't take much to please me! Smile!
