Hello Sieghard, will the charge pad work through a case? character is found in how you treat people who cannot do anything for you! ***

I am also curious to know why you decided to go for the iPhone 8 and not for one of the X models, like the XR. I am due for an upgrade in January and I think it is time to upgrade my iPhone 5S, so I am interested to know your way of thinking. What I described is simply a round disk which sort of looks like a slightly thicker coaster like what you would use on a table to put your glass on it. Said pad is plugged into a wall outlet via the provided cable and/or adapter or some simply use any Micro USB cable and 5 Watt wall plug. You then put your iPhone on top of this round disk/pad and it will charge wirelessly, i.e. you no longer plug in the Lightning cable. Of course this has to be an iPhone 8 or above since the iPhone 8 was the first one to support wireless charging, at least I think it was and that the iPhone 7 still has to be plugged in. You can of course also plug the iPhone 8 or any of the new 10 models in using the familiar Lightning cable, but since they don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack any more, using a wireless charging pad is one easy way to deal with the problem of using your phone with a wired headset and charging it at the same time. The phone charges as it lies on the pad and it leaves the Lightning port free for the headset. Alternatively you could buy a splitter which plugs into the Lightning port and then has two Lightning ends, one to plug in the charge cable and one to plug in a headset. They also exist with one Lightning end for the charge cable and one 3.5mm jack for a standard headphone. However, unless you buy a no-name splitter on Amazon the Belkin models cost $40 or something like that and you can buy a nice wireless charging pad for that. Has the Mophie or Balkin some sort of indication for a blind person? Maybe the problem is that I do not know how to use these devices properly in respect of charging but the few I ttried did not have a long lifespan. Using my iPhone 6S Plus to set up the iPhone 8 worked flawlessly, I was able to scan the code and all the settings including Wi-Fi password and the credit cards I had set up for Apple Pay got transferred. I only had to verify the cards by entering each card's 3-digit card verification code. Apart from that I did choose to set up as a new phone and spend about 6 hours downloading all my apps, putting them in the order I want, setting up folders and what is more, signing into all my home automation apps, my main bank app, the bank apps for my Visa and Mastercard, PayPal business, Facebook, Google, Audible including re-downloading my books and all the stuff I use. I must say setting up as a new phone if you are a fairly heavy user of the iPhone with all these type of apps is definitely a bit of a pain, but I usually find it is worth it with a brand-new phone. We also received the Mophie and Belkin wireless charging pads I ordered on Black Friday, my wife likes the Mophie one and I must say I probably would prefer it as well, but I'm not sure if I will send the Belkin back. The Mophie is quite noticeably smaller in diameter, has a bit of a softer coating and it comes with a wall charger and uses a Micro USB cable. The Belkin uses a proprietary AC adapter so should it for some reason fail it would be a lot harder to replace than a Micro USB cable. I also ordered two more less expensive wireless chargers from Amazon, one is a stand, I'll see how they work. Both the Belkin and Mophie work with a basic case on and seem to e not super picky as to how you put the phone on it as long as it is reasonably centred. Unfortunately we had a number of 6S cases and none of them work for the iPhone 8. They fit just fine, but the camera lens on the iPhone 6S is higher up in the corner of the phone and all the cases we have half cover the camera lens of the iPhone 8. Apart from this the phones are very snappy and definitely feel a bit more responsive than my wife's 6S and my 6S Plus, the virtual home button takes a little bit of getting used to, but it's fine and I like the fact that these phones are much more waterproof than my 6S Plus. Thanks, Reg and Kathy, for meeting us for lunch, you are lucky, Reg, my wife really wanted to run off with your new black lab. I hope you enjoy the show today, for reference, this refers to Reg Sullivan who is on this list, going to see the musical Come from Away together with his wife today. Apart from my friend driving us to Niagara Falls, my wife and I went to see this musical on Sunday and if anybody has a chance to go I can only recommend it, it's an awesome show. The topic is 9 11, but not the New Yor tragedy, this is about the town of Gander, Newfoundland, Canada which has a population of a little over 9,000 and during this attack on New York 38 large planes were forced to land there and about 7,000 people had to be sheltered and fed there for 3 days. It's a story of loss but also of incredible generosity, resilience and love. Take care, Sieghard -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
